Joshua Myiah Wicks (born November 1, 1983 in Landstuhl , Germany ) is an American football player .

Career

youth

The American, born in Landstuhl, Palatinate, grew up in San Bernardino (California) and played college football at Cal State Bakersfield . During the 2003 summer vacation he played for Des Moines Menace SC in the USL Premier Development League .

professional

From 2005 to 2006 Josh Wicks played for the Vancouver Whitecaps in the USL First Division . At the beginning of the 2005 season he was still the second goalkeeper behind Mike Franks . But he was injured and so Wicks came on 13 appearances during the season and two in the play-offs. His rate was 0.55 goals conceded per game. In the 2006 season he also played for the Whitecaps and was the substitute behind the English goalkeeper Tony Craig . This year the Caps were able to win the First Division for the first time. Wicks was on the square three times.

In 2007 he moved to the Portland Timbers , who also played in the USL First Division. There he came to 27 missions and was named the best goalkeeper in the league. During the winter break he played with the AFC Leopards in Kenya for a few months .

In early 2008 he moved to Major League Soccer for LA Galaxy . Before the season he was taken to the Pan-Pacific Championship 2008 and the club's subsequent trip to Asia on a trial basis . The then Galaxy coach Ruud Gullit was very enthusiastic about the goalkeeper and Wicks received a contract. He made his MLS debut on August 30, 2008 against New England Revolution , where he came on against the injured Steve Cronin.

A season later he went to DC United. There he made his first game against his former team LA Galaxy .

In the 2011 season, Wicks played for IFK Mariehamn in Finland. After the end of the season he was without a club for six months before Þór Akureyri brought him to the second Icelandic division. He and his team were able to stay in class at the end of the 2013 season . At the beginning of 2014 he left Iceland and moved to AFC Eskilstuna in Sweden. At the end of the 2014 season he rose with his team to the second Swedish league. He also had his regular place between the posts and reached promotion to the Swedish first division in the 2016 season . At the beginning of 2017 he joined fellow climber IK Sirius , with whom he reached the class remaining .

In April 2018, Wicks was banned for two years for doping.
