Joshua Higgason

Joshua Higgason (born in Colorado ) is an American video designer .

Life

Higgason studied history at Colorado College . Today he lives in New York and works as a designer for video and interactive media. His artistic work began in experimental theater and the experimental arts, with companies such as The Builders Association and Big Dance Theater . He has worked for many years with the songwriter and singer Sufjan Stevens and with the playwright and director Jay Scheib . Working with these two artists also took him to big houses such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music or the New York City Opera , where he was involved in the new production of the opera Powder Her Face by Philip Hensher and Thomas Adès in February 2013 . He was also responsible for the set and video design of Radiolab's US tours .

He works regularly with Candystations (Visual Performance Design) and The Windmill Factory and creates visuals for concerts at the SXSW festival , the Canadian rock band Metric , the folk rock singer Ray LaMontagne , Sufjan Stevens and the alternative country singer M. Ward . In 2015, the Salzburg Festival engaged him for a new version of the Threepenny Opera by Brecht and Weil, staged by Julian Crouch and Sven-Eric Bechtolf .

Joshua Higgason teaches video design at Bennington College , New York University , Long Island University , Princeton University , Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Duke University .
