Joshua "Josh" Robert Risdon (born July 27, 1992 in Bunbury ) is an Australian national soccer player on the position of right full back. He is currently under contract with the Australian first division club Western United in his home country .

Career

Risdon began his career in a football camp in his homeland in western Australia. In 2009 he moved to Perth Glory . There the full-back made his debut under coach Ian Ferguson in November 2010 in the game against Northern Fury FC in the Australian first division. Gradually he developed into a regular player. After more than 130 league games in which he scored two goals, he switched to league rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in 2017 . There he played regularly at the beginning, but was no longer in the squad in the end, so that Risdon joined Western United in the summer of 2019 .

National team

Risdon made his debut for the Australian national soccer team on November 17, 2015 in a 4-0 win in the World Cup qualifier against Bangladesh . At the 2018 World Cup , he was in the Australian squad and played all three preliminary round matches. As the last of Group C Risdon was eliminated with Australia afterwards. He was also in the Australian squad for the 2019 Asian Football Championship , but only completed the first half in the 0-1 defeat in the first round against Jordan . Australia failed in the quarterfinals.
