Western United FC is an Australian football - franchise , which in the west of Melbourne is home and himself as a representative of the state of the western part Victoria understands. The franchise was accepted into the A-League as the eleventh club for the 2019/20 season and plays its home games at Kardinia Park in Geelong .
history
A consortium called the Western Melbourne Group was one of eight applicants in August 2018 for a place in the A-League , the highest Australian division. In December 2018, the application was accepted to join the A-League for the 2019/20 season . As part of an online vote by the Herald Sun newspaper in February 2019, the name Western United FC was determined; other options available were Western Melbourne Athletic, Westside Pride and Western Melbourne Warriors. Both green and black were set as the club colors.
