Wilhelm Ferdinand Aribert von Reichenbach (born December 18, 1818 in Karge, Bomst district , † March 2, 1891 in Blankenburg in Thuringia ) was a Prussian major general and commander of Thorn .

Life

Wilhelm was a son of the Prussian Colonel Wilhelm von Reichenbach (1776–1834) and his second wife Christine, née Paulke (1787–1853).

Military career

After visiting the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin , Reichenbach was transferred to the 16th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on August 18, 1836 as a second lieutenant . From October 1839 to April 1840 he was in command of the 7th Combined Reserve Battalion and completed the General War School from October 1842 to July 1845 for further training . In 1847 he was assigned to the combined division school of the 13th and 14th divisions as a supervisory officer . Reichenbach rose to Prime Lieutenant at the end of June 1848 and took part in the battles at Durlach, Hulkenheim, Waghäusel, Oberweier and Kuppenheim the following year during the suppression of the Baden Revolution . In the same year he was deployed in the riots in Iserlohn and joined the 16th Landwehr Regiment as adjutant and accounting officer of the 2nd Battalion. In 1851/53 he was a company commander in the 1st Battalion and was promoted to captain in June 1852 . In 1853 Reichenbach was company commander in the III. Battalion. After being appointed company commander , he returned to his regular regiment on April 17, 1856. As a major , Reichenbach was promoted to commander of the 1st battalion on July 6, 1865 and to lieutenant colonel on June 8, 1866 .

During the German War in 1866 he took part in the battles at Münchengrätz and Königgrätz and received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class with swords , for his work . After the war, on March 22, 1868, he was transferred to the Küstrin fortress as a commander, conferring the character of a colonel and taking up positions à la suite of his regiment . The patent to his rank Reichenbach received on 18 June 1869, at the same time he was transferred as commander to Thorn. There he was put up for disposal on April 15, 1873 with the character of major general .

He died on March 2, 1891 in Blankenburg in Thuringia.

Reichenbach married Kathatina Graef (* 1828) in Düsseldorf on May 27, 1859. The couple had several children:
