Josico , real name José Joaquín Moreno Verdú (born January 6, 1975 in Hellín ), is a former Spanish soccer player and today's soccer coach , who last coached the second team of UD Las Palmas .

As an active player, he played for UD Las Palmas and FC Villarreal for many years .

Player career

Josico began his career as a professional footballer at the first division club in his hometown Albacete Balompié . After a year in the first team, however, he was relegated with his team to the Segunda División . Josico also spent the following two years in Albacete before moving to the traditional UD Las Palmas in 1998 , which was also represented in the Segunda División at that time. With the Canaries he rose in 1999/2000, but left the club after relegation in the 2001/2002 season in the direction of Villarreal . With the FC Villarreal he reached u. a. the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League . On August 28, 2008, he moved to the Turkish top club Fenerbahçe Istanbul , where he signed a two-year contract. However, his contract was terminated early due to poor performance. He then moved to UD Las Palmas, where he ended his career in 2011. In the Primera Division he played 240 games in which he scored 13 goals.
