The Journal of Economics ( ISO 4 : J. Econ.) Is a scientific , peer-reviewed journal with a focus on mathematical microeconomic theory , and sometimes macroeconomics . It was first published in February 1930 as the Zeitschrift für Nationalökonomie (ISO 4: Z. Nationalökon.). One volume is published every quarter, which consists of three monthly issues.

history

The first editor was Hans Mayer , a supporter of the Austrian school . He describes the journal for economics, social policy and administration founded in 1892 as the ideal forerunner of the journal (1921–1927 journal for economics and social policy ). From 1986 the title Journal of Economics was chosen, Zeitschrift für Nationalökonomie was retained as a subtitle. The magazine appears in the Vienna branch of Springer Science + Business Media .

The current editor is Giacomo Corneo , while Helmut Bester , Felix Bierbrauer , Roland Strausz and Klaus Wilder are also members of the group from German-speaking countries .

reception

In 2018, the impact factor is given as 1,141. A study by the French economists Pierre-Phillippe Combes and Laurent Linnemer ranked the journal with 139th place out of 600 economic journals with a B in the fourth of six categories. In the Handelsblatt ranking in 2013 and 2015, the magazine was in the second-lowest category C.
