Joyce Randolph (* 21st October 1924 in Detroit , Michigan as Joyce Sirola ) is an American actress . She gained fame through her role as Trixie Norton in the sitcom The Honeymooners, produced from 1955 to 1956 .

Life

Joyce Randolph was born Joyce Sirola in Detroit in 1924. In 1943 she moved to New York to begin an acting career. After a few roles on Broadway , she got her first appearances in television series and commercials. In 1944 she played her first film role in Gander Sauce , giving her maiden name .

In 1951, Randolph was discovered through a commercial by the comedian and later film partner Jackie Gleason , through which she appeared as a guest in four episodes of the series Cavalcade of Stars and there for the first time played the role of Trixie Norton in sketches , which was previously unique by Elaine Stritch was shown. In the same role, Randolph was also seen in 95 episodes of the Jackie Gleason Show since 1952 before she was cast in 1955 for the sitcom The Honeymooners . 39 episodes were created by 1956. Since Art Carney's death in November 2003, she is the last surviving actress on the series.

Joyce Randolph appeared in theater and television until 2000 before ending her career at the age of 76. In 2006, however, she appeared again in a supporting role in the tragic comedy Everything's Jake . From 1955 until his death in 1997, Randolph was married to Marketing Director Richard Lincoln Charles, and the couple had a son.
