Juan Ignacio Arrieta Ochoa de Chinchetru (born April 10, 1951 in Vitoria , Spain ) is a Curia Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Juan Ignacio Arrieta Ochoa de Chinchetru was ordained a priest on August 23, 1977 for the Opus Dei personal prelature . He holds a PhD in Canon Law and Civil Law and has taught at the University of Navarra , the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross and the Istituto di Diritto Canonico San Pio X in Venice . He is the founding editor of the magazine "Ius Ecclesiae".

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on February 15, 2007 secretary of the Pontifical Council for Legal Texts . On April 12, 2008 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. as titular bishop of Civitate . The episcopal ordination on May 1st, 2008 was donated to him by Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone SDB ; Co-consecrators were Agostino Cardinal Vallini and Archbishop Francesco Coccopalmerio . On June 26, 2013, Pope Francis appointed him coordinator of the commission of inquiry for the Istituto per le Opere di Religione (IOR).
