Francesco Cardinal Coccopalmerio (born March 6, 1938 in San Giuliano Milanese , Province of Milan , Italy ) is a cardinal emeritus of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Coccopalmerio studied civil law and canon law . He also obtained two doctorates in Catholic theology . On June 28, 1962, Francesco received Coccopalmerio through the Archbishop of Milan and later Pope Paul VI. the sacrament of ordination . From 1966 to 1999 Coccopalmerio worked as a professor of canon law at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy, based in Milan. In 1985 he became General Proviary of the Archdiocese of Milan.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on April 8, 1993 auxiliary bishop in Milan and titular bishop of Coeliana .
