Juan Manuel Díaz Martínez (born January 28, 1987 or October 28, 1987 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
Depending on the sources, the 1.68 m or 1.78 m tall Juan Manuel Díaz acts in the position of the defender . He started his career in 2006 in Montevideo near Liverpool Montevideo . There he completed ten games in the Primera División in the 2006/07 season . In the Apertura 2007 eight more league appearances (two goals) were added. From 2008 to 2009 Díaz played for the Argentine club Estudiantes de La Plata . With the club from La Plata he reached the finals of the Copa Sudamericana against the victorious SC Internacional in 2008 . In the first leg, Díaz was used over the full distance. He also won the Copa Libertadores 2009 with his teammates . In the final second leg against Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte , he was substituted on in the 80th minute after he did not get a chance in the first leg. He also played the final of the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup with the club . 2010 to 2012 Díaz was in the ranks of the traditional Argentine club River Plate , with whom he was relegated to the second Argentine division for the first time in the club's history.
Since Apertura 2012, Díaz has been active for Nacional Montevideo in the Primera División. There he made 15 league appearances in the 2013/14 season and also played four games for the Bolsos in the Copa Libertadores . In the 2013/14 season he was used 19 times in the top Uruguayan league and scored two goals. He also made seven appearances in the 2014 Copa Libertadores (no goal). In the 2014/15 season, in which he won the national championship with Nacional, he was used in nine first division games (no goal) and twice (no goal) in the 2015 Copa Libertadores . In September 2015 he moved within the league to Racing Club de Montevideo . There he ran up to the end of the season in twelve first division games (one goal). In July 2016 he signed with the Greek club AEK Athens for the next two seasons. In the 2016/17 season, however, he was only used in one league and three cup games. He did not score a hit.
National team
Díaz was also on the squad of the Uruguayan U-20 national football team . With this he took part in both the 2007 U-20 South American Championship in Paraguay and the 2007 U-20 World Championship . At the World Cup he made four international matches.
