Career

society

Juan Ramón Fernández began his career in 1997 with Estudiantes de La Plata , in the 1997/98 season he made his debut in the top Argentine division . After receiving more appearances there from year to year and eventually growing up to be a regular player, he moved to the then reigning German champions Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2002 for around 1.5 million US dollars .

He played his first game for Borussia on July 30th in the league cup final against Hertha BSC . His Bundesliga debut followed on August 9 in a 2-2 draw against Hertha BSC. But after only four league appearances in the first half of the season, Fernandez had to be content with the reserve role and was only used in the second team in the meantime. Before the start of the pre-season 2003/04 Fernandez traveled illegally to his home country because he was not satisfied with his reservist existence. BVB punished him for this action with a fine of 100,000 euros. But due to the long-term injuries of Torsten Frings and Evanilson Fernandez was needed in the team and completed ten league games in the first half of 2003/04 before he was loaned to CA River Plate for a year in his home country in January 2004 .

In July 2005 he moved back to Argentina to CA San Lorenzo de Almagro . From that point on, he moved from club to club almost every year. He played for Olimpo de Bahía Blanca , CA Colón and the Argentinos Juniors , among others , before moving abroad again in February 2009, to Greece for Skoda Xanthi . But after only four months he returned to Argentina and played for Atlético de Rafaela , where he won the Primera B Nacional in the 2010/11 season. In 2013 Fernández played in Chile for Deportes Iquique and played seven league games there. From 2014 he played again in Argentina at Club Everton de La Plata . It was there that he ended his career. However, it is not known in what year Fernández left.

National team

Fernández completed in 1999 under the then coach Marcelo Bielsa an international match for the Argentine national football team , but this was his only one.
