Juan Elías Yustrich (born July 9, 1909 in Rosario , † October 6, 2002 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine football goalkeeper. In the 1930s he won two championship titles with the Boca Juniors .
Career
After spending his youth with Provincial de Rosario in his hometown, Juan Yustrich was signed by the capital club Boca Juniors in 1932 . The son of Croatian parents made his debut for the Boca Juniors on March 13, 1932 in a 5-2 win over Club Atlético Atlanta . In the following six years, Yustrich guarded the goal of the club from the working-class district of La Boca and made a total of 173 games in the league of the Primera División during this time .
Starting the season as defending champion, Yustrich's first season in the jersey of the Boca Juniors, the 1932 season , ended only in fourth place. In the following year, with second place, the championship was missed by one point against CA San Lorenzo de Almagro . In the third attempt, Juan Yustrich finally won the Argentine football championship for the first time. The Primera División 1934 ended for the Boca Juniors in first place with a lead of one point over the second-placed CA Independiente . While they had the best offensive in the league with 101 goals, Juan Yustrich as the new champion's goalkeeper had to concede 62 goals relatively often, which was still enough for the championship. In the following year you could defend this title win and again took first place in front of Independiente in the highest Argentine football league. This time the team of coach Mario Fortunato separated three points from the first pursuer. As a keeper, Juan Yustrich had to accept the fewest goals of all first division clubs this time.
After two more seasons without a title win with the Boca Juniors, Juan Yustrich changed employers and joined Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata . The Primera División in 1938 ended Yustrich with his new club in fifth place and caused a little surprise. A year later, however, they found themselves in the table basement and at the end of the season they were only fifteen.
From 1940 to 1941 Juan Yustrich had his last career stop at CA Lanús , where he made another 53 league games in two years. With the placements fifteen and fourteen, relegation from the Primera División was barely prevented both times. After the end of the 1941 season, Juan Yustrich ended his career as an active goalkeeper at the age of 32. After that, he largely withdrew from the football business. At the age of 93 years Juan Yustrich died on 6 October 2002 in a hospital in Buenos Aires from the effects of ischemia .
