The Juan de la Cosa ( call sign "ECJE"), named after the Spanish explorer and navigator of the same name , is a hospital ship of the Instituto Social de la Marina (ISM), which on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Labor for the medical care of members of the Spanish fishing fleet directly at sea. The ship bears the IMO number 9328156 .

The ship, which cost around 17 million euros to build, was put into service in 2006. The home port is Santander , the area of ​​operation is mainly in the North Atlantic in the area southwest of Ireland and northwest of the Iberian Peninsula .
