Judd marble
Judd Marmor (born May 2, 1910 in London , † December 16, 2003 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American psychiatrist .
Life
Marble was born in London in 1910 and moved to the United States with his family as a child. After graduating from high school, marble studied at Columbia University in New York City and graduated in medicine in 1933. Marble served in the US Navy during World War II . After the war, Marmor moved to Los Angeles in 1946 , where he worked as a psychiatrist. Marble began working with Evelyn Hooker on the subject of homosexuality in the 1960s . In 1965 he wrote the book Sexual Inversion . Evelyn Hooker wrote a chapter of the book. As an author, he wrote seven other books in his life.
Marmor took part in a research project on homosexuality that was funded by the US National Institute of Mental Health . In 1974 he was elected President of the American Psychiatric Association . Marble served as director of psychiatry at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was also a professor in psychiatry at the University of Southern California .
Marble was married to Katherine Marble, who died in 1999. They had a son.
