Judith Barry

Judith Barry (* 1949 or 1954 in Columbus , Ohio ) is an American installation artist .

life and work

Judith Barry studied at the New York Institute of Technology in New York. In 1987 she graduated with a master's degree . She taught at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart . In 2017, Barry was appointed professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology .

"Judith Barry, a pioneer of installation art and research-based projects, has been working in the fields of architecture, performance , film and video , installation, sculpture and photography since the late 1970s ."

In 2000 Judith Barry was awarded the Friedrich Kiesler Prize , in 2001 she received the prize for the best pavilion at the Cairo Biennale and in 2011 a Guggenheim grant .

Barry was a participant of the Berlin Biennale , the Carnegie International , dOCUMENTA (13) , Nagoya Biennale, São Paulo Biennial , Biennale of Sydney , Sharjah Biennale and the Whitney Biennial .
