Jules Gratier

Jules Victor Gratier (born June 25, 1863 in Barraux , Isère department , † September 23, 1956 in La Tronche , Isère department) was a French lieutenant general and commander-in-chief of the allied troops in Upper Silesia .

Life

He attended the war school and passed through various units and commands in France. During the First World War, Gratier was promoted to commander of the 46th Inf. Division . In 1920 he became commander in chief of the allied troops in Upper Silesia .

The Interallied Government and Plebiscite Commission for Upper Silesia ("CIHS"; French Commission Interalliée der Haute Silésie ) under the direction of the French General Henri Le Rond was subordinate to French-Italian-British troops of around 13,000 to 22,000 soldiers. Of these, the French provided by far the greatest number of troops, with General Jules Gratier in chief.

In 1925 Gratier was transferred to the reserve.
