Jules Pfluger

Jules Ernst Pfluger (born May 9, 1916 in Härkingen ; † November 16, 2008 in Wangen bei Olten ) was a Swiss homeland researcher of the canton of Solothurn .

Life

Pfluger was the older brother of the writer and collector of sagas Elisabeth Pfluger . On November 6, 1942, he received the Solothurn district teacher license and worked from 1943 to 1946 as a teacher at the college in Sarnen . From 1946 Pfluger worked as a secondary school teacher in Reinach BL . He held this position until 1956, when he finally became a district teacher in Solothurn and held this post until his retirement in 1981.

Pfluger dealt intensively with the history of the Solothurnian Gäus , in particular with the local history of Härkingen and in 1963 wrote the book "Solothurnisches Gäu" together with his sister Elisabeth. A commemorative publication followed in 1980 for the 900th anniversary of the town of Härkingen. After his retirement in 1981, Pfluger published numerous articles in the Oltner Tagblatt about the history of houses and their inhabitants in Härkingen and other villages in the Solothurnian Gäu. From these newspaper articles the book "Härkingen, old houses and their residents" was finally created in 1995. He also researched historical tiled stoves . For his services he was given the honorary citizenship of Härkingen. Pfluger died on November 16, 2008 in Wangen near Olten and was buried in Härkingen. His estate has meanwhile been handed over to the Solothurn Central Library .
