Life and work

Elisabeth Pfluger was born into a host family in Härkingen . Since her school days, especially since the time at the Solothurn teachers' college , she has been collecting evidence of the Solothurn folk culture such as legends, anecdotes and sayings, and has published them in numerous essays and books. From 1983 to 2006 she published the folklore and regional history of the Solothurn calendar . She worked as a teacher until 1981, first in Neuendorf and from 1949 in the city of Solothurn . In 1972 the first volume of legends , Solothurn Legends , was published by the government council of the canton of Solothurn. The then Solothurn Landammann Franz Josef Jeger wrote that the author succeeded in "saving the rich legends of the Solothurn people from sliding into oblivion".

The Solothurn stories followed in 1984 and Solothurn ghost sagas in 1986 , both published by Aare Verlag , as well as in 2004 in the Solothurn Central Library's series Settigi Ding gids, another volume with ghostly and other eerie legends. In addition to these landmarks in Elisabeth Pfluger's legends collecting activity, there are various other publications with stories, anecdotes and sayings in the Solothurn dialect .

Elisabeth Pfluger also collected children's games and verses as well as old Solothurn songs and dances . Some dances from Laupersdorf were presented in the context of broadcasts on the Swiss Radio DRS .
