Julia Behnke (born March 28, 1993 in Mannheim ) is a German handball player .

Career

Julia Behnke played in her youth at TSG Ketsch , with which she became German A-youth vice-champion in 2011 . At the same time, she played for TSG in the third division in the 2010/11 season . In 2011, the 1.80 meter tall skier moved to the second division club SG BBM Bietigheim , with whom she was promoted to the handball Bundesliga in 2013. From the summer of 2014 she ran for the TuS Metzingen , which she left in the summer of 2019 for GK Rostov-on-Don . With Rostov she won the Russian championship in 2020. Behnke has been playing for the Hungarian first division club Ferencváros Budapest since the 2020/21 season .

Behnke took part in the U-17 European Championship in 2009, the U-18 World Championship in 2010 and the U-19 European Championship in 2011. She was part of the extended squad of the German women's national team for the 2013 World Cup . In 2015 she reached the 13th place with the women's national team at the World Cup. She was a seeded player at the 2017 home World Cup and reached the round of 16 together with the national team. She has played 79 games so far in which she scored 156 goals.
