Julie Hanusch (born April 21, 1878 in Haniowitz / Moravia as Julie Winter ; † October 31, 1949 in Freital ) was a textile artist and the wife of Karl Hanusch .

Life

As the daughter of wealthy parents (brewery owners), she was initially raised by private tutors. After her mother's death in 1891, she went to a secondary school for girls in Dresden . Then she lives with her father in Vienna and accompanies him to the therapeutic baths of Europe. On the recommendation of Carl Bantzer , she temporarily took private painting lessons with Karl Hanusch in Dresden, and later with Reinhold Klaus in Vienna. The extensive color palette of yarns and their low weight when traveling brings them to “painting with a needle”. After her father's death in 1923 she married the painter and graphic artist Karl Hanusch , who was director of the art school for the textile industry in Plauen / Vogtl from 1922 to 1933 . was.

Due to the increasing agitation against non-Aryans, she took over the care of her sister in Brno / Moravia from 1938 . From there she was unexpectedly deported to Theresienstadt in April 1942. She survived the ghetto and was able to return to her husband in Freital in August 1945.
