Julija Domaševa

Julija Domaševa (* 1986 in Visaginas ) is a Lithuanian choir director and orchestra conductor . She is the first woman ever to have conducted the Frankfurt Chamber Opera .

Training and engagements

She graduated from the National Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis Art School in Vilnius . She then studied choral conducting with Vytautas Miškinis at the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy . As part of the European Union's Erasmus funding program , she completed a bachelor's and master's degree with Johannes Prinz at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . She obtained another master's degree in orchestral conducting with Martin Sieghart .

During her studies, she founded the “Mosaik” choir, which won first prize in competitions in Škofja Loka in 2011 and 2012 . She worked as an assistant to Otto Kargl and Franz M. Herzog and attended international master classes by renowned conductors. In 2012 she was a scholarship holder of the St. Petersburg Orthodox Church Music Summer School.

Julija Domaševa has performed as a conductor with orchestras and choirs at home and abroad, such as the Tel Aviv Chamber Orchestra , Pandoras Box Orchestra in Italy , the Symphonic Wind Orchestra of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG), the studio choir and the KUG choir as well as the Filharmonie Hradec Králové. For the Stadl Castle Festival, she took over the choir production for Die Fledermaus .

Julija Domaševa has been the choir director at the Theater Vorpommern since the 2016/2017 season . In 2019 she conducts performances in the production of "The Wrong Bride - Gioachino Rossini" at the Chamber Opera Frankfurt , as the first woman ever.

Performances

At the Theater Vorpommern she was responsible for the productions of the choirs in Carmen , A Masked Ball , Margarethe (Faust) , Jekyll and Hyde , Once Upon a Time… . As part of a joint project for the performance of Tannhäuser and the Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg under the musical direction of Golo Berg in the 2016/2017 season, she led the opera choir of the Theater Vorpommern, the direction of the choir of the Opera na Zamku was Małgorzata Bornowska .

Works

She made her first CD recording for the project “Performance Practice in Contemporary Music”.

As an author she published the work “Musical aspects of Russian neoclassicism: using the example of Sergei Prokofjew” (Akademikerverlag, 2017, ISBN 978-3330513570 ).
