Julio Galán

Julio Galán (born December 5, 1959 in Múzquiz , Coahuila , † August 4, 2006 in Zacatecas ) was a Mexican painter.

Life

Galán was born on December 5, 1959 in Múzquiz , Coahuila and grew up with his wealthy family in Monterrey . There he attended a private school. He then studied architecture at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey . During his studies he began painting, encouraged by the art dealer Guillermo Sepúlveda. Galán had his first exhibition in Sepúlveda's gallery in 1980. In 1985 he made his gallery debut at the Art Mart Gallery in East Village , New York and had many exhibitions in Europe . In New York he also exhibited together with Anina Nosei and Ramis Barquet , where he had his last solo exhibition in 2001.

Julio Galán died of a stroke on August 4, 2006 at the age of 46 .
