Julio Franklin Santana (born January 20, 1973 in San Pedro de Macorís , San Pedro de Macorís (Province) , Dominican Republic ) is a former professional baseball pitcher ( relief pitcher ) of Major League Baseball . His professional career began on April 6, 1997 and ended with his last game on May 20, 2006. He is the nephew of former professional baseball player Rico Carty . Julio was hired as an amateur by the Texas Rangers baseball organization in 1990 .
