Julius August von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (born February 9, 1578 in Wolfenbüttel , † August 31, 1617 in Michaelstein ) was a prince of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and abbot of the Michaelstein monastery near Blankenburg .

Life

Julius August was a son of Duke Julius von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1528–1589) from his marriage to Hedwig (1540–1602), daughter of Elector Joachim II of Brandenburg .

As the Duke's younger son, Julius August, like two of his brothers, found his care in the clergy. The Guelph Princes tended to hold positions of middle rank. In 1593 Julius August became provost of St. Blasius in Braunschweig . In 1599 his brother Heinrich Julius appointed him abbot of the Michaelstein Monastery, which had fallen to the House of Braunschweig when the Counts of Regenstein died out.

Julius August donated the baptismal font to the Marienkirche in Wolfenbüttel. He was succeeded in his offices by Julius August's nephew Christian , known as the great Halberstadt.
