He then went to Australia and became a versatile businessman. He married a woman from Bremen and became consul of Bremen in Queensland . In 1866 he unsuccessfully spoke out in favor of founding a German colonial in New Guinea , which then took place in the northeast as Kaiser-Wilhelms-Land in 1899 .

He acquired more shares in the shipping company North Sea and at the George Mary's mining and metallurgy AG in Osnabrück ..

In 1888 Albert Haasemann founded the jute spinning and weaving mill in Bremen in Walle and Brabant and was a member of the supervisory board. He acquired further shares in the factory, which developed into one of the most important companies in this branch in Germany. In 1931 Haasemann resigned from the board and Carl Julius Brabant, nephew of the company co-founder and Julius Brabant, became the company's director.

From 1883 he ran a cigarette factory in Bremer-Neustadt , which J. Bredehorst later took over. In 1898 he transferred his business to his nephew. He bequeathed part of his fortune to a foundation.
