Julius Eduard Reinecker (1832–1895)

Julius Eduard Reinecker (born July 27, 1832 in Wieskau , † September 7, 1895 in Chemnitz ) was a German entrepreneur who is considered the founder of machine tool construction in Chemnitz, Saxony.

Life

Reinecker was born the son of a farmer in Wieskau, Province of Saxony . Since he had numerous other siblings, he could not take over the paternal farm as the seventh child. He went to Schönebeck (Elbe) , where he became a kit maker. On the Walz he first got to know the Saxon town of Chemnitz in 1851, where he stayed several times and finally settled down.

In 1859 Julius Eduard Reinecker got a job as a foreman at DG Diel, the founder of the "Union" machine tool factory on Zwickauer Strasse in Chemnitz . In the same year he took over the local tool shop and tool shop on Bretgasse. From this he developed the company JE Reinecker, tools and machine tool construction, Chemnitz , which he moved to Zwickauer Strasse 17 in 1864. From 1872 he had a new production building built at Augustusburger Strasse 35. Here he developed a machine tool company, which became a considerable size in the industry, both in terms of its specialization in milling and grinding machine construction . Numerous further developments followed. After his death, his son Johannes Georg Reinecker took over the management of the company and converted it into a stock corporation in 1911 , which had annual sales of around six to nine million Reichsmarks until the 1920s .
