Julius Grill

Julius Friedrich Ludwig Grill , von Grill from 1903 , (born April 10, 1840 in Gaildorf ; died September 10, 1930 in Tübingen ) was a German Protestant theologian , Indologist and religious scholar .

After training in the Urach theological seminar , Grill studied at the University of Tübingen from 1854 . In 1862 he became vicar in Wildbad , later in Pfaffenhofen (Württemberg) . He worked as a repeater in the Heilbronn boarding school and from 1867 in the Tübingen monastery . In 1869 he became city vicar in Stuttgart and the following year deacon in Calw . In 1873 he received his doctorate in oriental studies on the basis of a work supervised by Rudolf von Roth .

From 1876 he taught at the Protestant theological seminar in Maulbronn . In 1880 he received his Lic. Theol. From the University of Jena . PhD. From 1888 until his retirement in 1913, he was a full professor of the Old Testament at the Evangelical Theological Faculty in Tübingen . In 1902/1903 he was the rector of the university.
