Julius Kampitsch
Julius Kampitsch (born September 19, 1900 in Payerbach ; † May 14, 1974 in Vienna ) was an Austrian hotel owner and politician.
Julius Kampitsch attended secondary school in Seitenstetten . He was the owner of a hotel in Payerbach and was politically active in the Greater German People's Party . From 1927 he worked for the Styrian homeland security in the Lower Austrian industrial and Semmering area, in 1930 he became regional director of homeland security in Lower Austria. From July 1, 1932 to May 2, 1934, he was a member of the home bloc in the Austrian National Council ( fourth legislative period ).
In the corporate state he was from 1934 to 1938 a member of the state parliament of Lower Austria and state councilor for tourism, trade and transport. He was also Vice President of the Austrian Trade Association and Federal Guild Master for the hospitality industry. In 1937 his participation in the NSDAP became public, but Chancellor Schuschnigg prevented his release from the state government. On March 11, 1938, Kampitsch took over the post of governor on the orders of the Gauleiter and handed this over to the Gauleiter on March 12, 1938. He was state governor until August 1938. Kampitsch later had to face party proceedings, but was rehabilitated in 1942.
After the end of the Second World War, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a people's court in 1946 . In 1949, however, he was pardoned and released after a year in custody. In 1951 he became secretary of the Chamber of Commerce .
