Julius Meinl IV.
Julius "Jacky" Meinl IV. (Born October 27, 1930 in Vienna ; † January 4, 2008 ) was an Austrian entrepreneur ( Julius Meinl , Anglo Austrian AAB Bank ).
Life
Meinl came from the marriage of Julius Meinl III. with Johanna "Hansi" Winterstein (1906–1983) and belonged to the family of the Julius Meinl coffee roastery founded in Vienna in 1862 . He emigrated to England in 1939, while his wife Maria, daughter of the department store heir Paul Gerngross (1880–1954) and his wife Martha and their parents fled to Montevideo in Uruguay as Jews .
In England, Julius Meinl joined the British Royal Air Force , was a pilot and trained as an auditor. In 1953 he returned to Austria. He became Vice President of the Supervisory Board of the Meinl Group, later he was President of the Supervisory Board of Julius Meinl AG and Vice President of the Supervisory Board of Meinl Bank AG. He managed Meinl AG's coffee purchasing department himself; he was internationally recognized as a coffee expert.
Until his death, Meinl was president of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), the lobby group for general aviation.
From his marriage to Maria Gerngross the two children Jeannette and Julius emerged. In the end he lived with his partner Christl Frisch. He died of complications from heart disease.
