Julius Natterer

Julius Natterer (born December 5, 1938 in Neukirchen-Haggn ) is a German engineer and professor of timber construction at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne .

He studied at the Technical University of Munich , where he received his diploma in 1965 . He then stayed there as an assistant for another nine years . During this time he set up his own office. In 1978 he was appointed to the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne . There he headed the Institute for Wood Construction , which according to the ideas of the President of the University, Maurice Cossandey , should give the wood industry in Switzerland new impetus. Today he is considered one of the most important personalities in the field of timber construction. He is the developer of numerous new types of timber construction, such as the board stacking technology. In particular, he is the most important author of the Timber Construction Atlas, a standard work among contemporary building construction books.
