Life

Julius Rehborn was the son of the pool attendant Julius Rehborn and his wife Anna, geb. Voss. He spent the first six years of his life in his native Langenberg. In January 1906 the family moved to Bochum , where his father had accepted a position as "bath manager" in the municipal bathing establishment Marienbad . The family lived in a rented apartment at Marienstraße 13 in the immediate vicinity of the bathing establishment. Like his two younger sisters, Julius Rehborn was a member of the Blau-Weiß Bochum swimming club and later of the Erfurt swimming club 05 Erfurt . In 1928 Rehborn started at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam and finished ninth in diving from the 10-meter board.

His youngest sister Hanni also started as a water diver at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam and was sixth in diving. His sister Anni won as a swimmer in the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay at the European Championships in 1927 in Bologna a bronze medal . She was also nominated for the 1928 Summer Olympics, but did not take part for unknown reasons.

From 1929 to 1945 Julius Rehborn worked as a "Stadtbadverwalter" in Ulm . After a break of several years, he was re-elected to this office on June 6, 1950 by the Ulm City Council. In the mid-1960s, Rehborn wrote a “memorandum on the development of bathing in the city of Ulm”.

In the ruling chamber files of the Ulm Regional Court from the post-war years 1946 to 1950 , Julius Rehborn is listed with his place of residence in Herrlingen . According to these documents, his wife was Lotte Rehborn, born on December 12, 1903 in Erfurt .
