Junín is a city in central Argentina . It is located in the northwest of the province of Buenos Aires and has 87,509 inhabitants (status: 2010, INDEC )
geography
Junín lies in the transition area between the wet and dry pampas , the area is used for agriculture. There are several lakes around Junín, which flood large areas in times of heavy rainfall. The best known are the Laguna de Gómez and the Laguna Mar Chiquita (not to be confused with the Lake Mar Chiquita in the province of Cordoba and with the Lagoon Mar Chiquita near Mar del Plata ).

history
The city was founded in 1826 by Bernardino Rivadavia , the then president, as a military base in the fight against the Indians, it was the first large fort in the region. 1827 named Juan Manuel de Rosas in Fuerte Federacion order. From 1851 it was called Junín again.
economy
Industry dominates the economy, especially the production of food and other agricultural products. In addition, Junín is a regional tourism center because of the lakes in the area. The city was best known for the most famous woman in Argentina, Eva María Duarte de Perón .
