Juan Antonio Flecha Giannoni (born September 17, 1977 in Junín , Argentina ) is a former Spanish cyclist who was particularly successful in the classics . He achieved four podium finishes on the Tour of Flanders and Paris – Roubaix .

Career

Flecha became a professional in 2000 with the Relax-Fuenlabrada cycling team . In 2003, he won the 11th stage of the Tour de France as a driver for Banesto teams after breaking away from his fellow escapees 12 km from the finish. The following year he drove for Fassa Bortolo and won a World Cup race with the championship in Zurich . In 2005 he was able to get a second place at Gent – ​​Wevelgem , where the winner Nico Mattan , benefiting from the slipstream of the escort vehicles, was able to prevail against Flecha and to achieve a third place at Paris-Roubaix as part of a top group of three. Between 2006 and 2009 Flecha drove for the Dutch Rabobank team . He won the ProTour -race GP Ouest France-Plouay 2006. Overall, Flecha placed eight times in the top ten of Paris-Roubaix.

At the end of the 2013 season he ended his career as a professional cyclist with the Vacansoleil-DCM team and contested his last race at the Tour of Beijing . After his sporting career, he worked as a moderator for Eurosport .
