Tour of Flanders 2013 was the 97th edition of the Tour of Flanders , a one-day cycle race . It was held on April 31, 2013 over a distance of 256.2 km and was the eighth race of the UCI WorldTour 2013 . The race was won by Fabian Cancellara from the RadioShack Leopard team after he was able to break away from his two companions Peter Sagan and Jürgen Roelandts shortly before the last crossing of the Paterberg . Fabian Cancellara tackled the final 18 km as a soloist and brought home an undisputed victory. Peter Sagan prevailed for 2nd place with 2 seconds ahead of Jürgen Roelandts. Alexander Kristoff won the sprint of the next chasing group .
Teams
Since the Tour of Flanders was a race of the UCI WorldTour 2013 , all UCI WorldTeams were automatically invited and were obliged to send a squad. Originally, the racing organization had planned to invite the eighteen ProTeams to the race and to give seven other teams wild cards. However, the Katusha team regained their UCI WorldTour status after an appeal to the International Court of Justice . Instead of prohibiting a team from participating in the race, the race organization applied for approval from the UCI to invite 26 teams with 8 drivers each. This proposal was approved before the race.
