Jun Yamashita (born August 23, 1997 ) is a Japanese athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Jun Yamashita gained his first international experience at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , where he finished sixth in the 200-meter run in 21.62 seconds. Two years later he was eighth in the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz in 20.94 s and won the silver medal behind the United States in 39.01 s with the Japanese 4 x 100 meter relay. At the IAAF World Relays 2017 in the Bahamas , he finished sixth in 40.31 s in the B-final and reached the Summer Universiade in TaipeiEighth place in 21.16 s. He also won the Japanese relay in 38.65 s. In 2018 he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and finished fourth in the mixed 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 21.90 minutes. The following year he finished fourth in the Student World Games in Naples in 20.58 s and won again with the Japanese team in 38.92 s. He also reached fourth place with the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 04.34 min. Over 200 meters, he qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where he was eliminated with 20.62 s in the preliminary round.

Yamashita is a student at Tsukuba University .
