Junacas Norte is a town in the Tarija Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

location

Junacas Norte is one of seven localities in the canton of Junacas in the municipality of Tarija in the province of Cercado . Junacas Norte is located at an altitude of 2383  m on one of the headwaters of the Río San Agustín , which flows over the Río Santa Ana into the Río Nuevo Guadalquivir .

geography

Junacas Norte is conveniently located between the different climatic zones of the country, on the edge of the Andes at an altitude of around 2400  m , so that mostly mild and pleasant weather prevails (see climate diagram Tarija). In the rainy season between December and February (summer months) there are frequent torrential thunderstorms. The rest of the year is extremely low in precipitation.

Transport network

Junacas Norte is 43 kilometers by road east of Tarija , the capital of the department.

The highway Ruta 1 runs through Tarija in a north-south direction , which crosses the Bolivian highlands from north to south and leads from Desaguadero on the border with Peru via the metropolises El Alto , Oruro and Potosí to Tarija, and from there to Bermejo on the border with Argentina .

Eight kilometers southeast of the city center of Tarija, the highway Ruta 11 branches off in an easterly direction from Ruta 1 and leads via Junacas Sur to Entre Ríos and on via Palos Blancos , Villamontes and Ibibobo to Cañada Oruro on the border with Paraguay .

At Junacas Sur, a dirt road branches off to the northeast from Ruta 11, which after three kilometers reaches Junacas Norte and continues to España Sur .
