Cañada Oruro (also: Hito BR-94 ) is a border crossing in the Tarija Department in the extreme southeast of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Cañada Oruro is a border town in Villamontes in the Gran Chaco province . The village is located at an altitude of 279 m in the Bolivian Gran Chaco on the course of the Cañada Oruro on the border with neighboring Paraguay .

Cañada Oruro is located in the humid tropics , the climate is semi-humid .
The annual average temperature is 25 ° C (see Villamontes climate diagram), the monthly values fluctuate between almost 20 ° C in June / July and 29 ° C in December / January. The long-term average annual precipitation is almost 700 mm and falls mainly in the months of December to March, where monthly values of significantly more than 100 mm are reached. To get from Tarija to Cañada Oruro, first follow the Ruta 1 highway , which leads from Tarija in a south-easterly direction. After eight kilometers, the Ruta 11 road branches off to the east, reaching the town of Villamontes after 243 kilometers via Junacas Sur , Entre Ríos and Palos Blancos . The paved route 11 then heads east via Ibibobo to Cañada Oruro , the border station on the border with Paraguay .
From Mayor Infante Rivarola on the Paraguayan side, a road leads in a north-easterly direction to the Comunidad Indígena La Patria , from there the road PY-09 leads to Filadelfia , the capital of the Boquerón department , and from there to Paraguay's capital Asunción . From Asunción there is a connection to the international Atlantic trade via the Río Paraguay , therefore the Ruta 11 via Cañada Oruro is an important traffic artery for future foreign traffic in inland Bolivia.
