Juneyao Airlines ( Chinese 吉祥 航空公司 ) is a Chinese airline based in Shanghai and based at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport .

history

The airline was founded in 2005 and operates a network of destinations within China and five other destinations in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Thailand. The hub is currently located at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport , but the second airport in Shanghai, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, also serves as an important aviation hub . The company strives to grow and expand the route network. However, the decision of the CAAC (Chinese Civil Aviation Authority) following the incident on August 13, 2011, banned Juneyao Airlines' further growth plans until further notice.

Juneyao Airlines has been the first connecting partner of the Star Alliance since May 23, 2017 .

With 9 Air , Juneyao Airlines owns a low-cost airline that owns a Boeing 737 fleet and flies to national destinations from Guangzhou .

Incidents

  • On August 13, 2011, a Boeing 777-300 of Qatar Airways , with the aircraft registration number A7-BAC , declared an air emergency (Mayday) after more than an hour of waiting for the approach to Shanghai-Pudong Airport , since the remaining fuel quantity had fallen below the prescribed amount was. An immediate landing at the Shanghai-Hongqiao airport selected as an alternative destination was to be achieved. At the same time, an Airbus A320-200 of Juneyao Airlines was on Juneyao Airlines flight 1112 approaching Shanghai-Hongqiao.
