Juntavi is a town in the Potosí department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Juntavi is the central place of the canton Juntavi in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Caripuyo in the province of Alonso de Ibáñez . The village is located at an altitude of 3378 m in the Cordillera Azanaques on the left, northern bank of the Río Caripuyo , which flows to the Río Chayanta and over the Río San Pedro to the Río Grande .

Juntavi is located in the northern foothills of the Bolivian Cordillera Central and has a distinct daytime climate, in which the mean temperature fluctuation during the day is more pronounced than during the year.

Juntavi is 275 kilometers by road north of Potosí , the capital of the department of the same name.
From Potosí, the Ruta 1 highway leads in a north-westerly direction over 109 kilometers to the village of Ventilla . There a dirt road branches off to the northeast and reaches the town of Macha after 33 kilometers . There it meets Ruta 6 , which leads via Uncía and Llallagua in a north-westerly direction to Oruro . Fourteen kilometers after Llallagua, a dirt road branches off to the northeast in the direction of Caripuyo and reaches Juntavi after 35 kilometers .

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a significant proportion of Aymara population, in the municipality of Caripuyu 68.3 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
