The Municipio Caripuyo (also: Caripuyu , Quechua Qhariphuyu ) is a district in the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality Caripuyo is one of two municipalities in the province of Alonso de Ibáñez . It borders the Municipio Sacaca to the east, the Cochabamba department to the north, the Oruro department to the west , and the Rafael Bustillo province to the south .
The municipality comprises 82 localities, the central place of the municipality is the village of Caripuyo with 554 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the southeastern part of the district.

The Municipio Caripuyo is located in one of the high valleys of the Cordillera Azanaques on the northwestern edge of the Bolivian Cordillera Central . The climate of the region is a typical time of day climate , in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.
The long-term average temperature in the municipality is 13 ° C and fluctuates between 9 ° C in June / July and more than 15 ° C from November to March (see Caripuyo climate diagram). The annual precipitation is almost 500 mm, from April to October there is a dry season with monthly precipitation of less than 20 mm, monthly values of just over 100 mm are only achieved in January and February.
