Juozas Domarkas
Juozas Domarkas (born July 28, 1936 in Varkaliai , Plungė district ) is a Lithuanian musician and music teacher, orchestra conductor , professor at Lietuvos muzikos ir teatro akademija .
Life
From 1955 to 1960 Domarkas studied clarinet at the Conservatory of Lithuania and in 1965 conducting at the Leningrad Conservatory with Ilya Mussin . In 1963 he trained in Moscow with Igor Markevitch . Domarkas has been art director and chief conductor of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra in Vilnius since 1964 . He has taught since 1968 and since 1995 has been the chair of conducting at the Music Faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater . In 1995 he became a professor. From 1972 to 1991 he also directed the student symphony orchestra at the music college.
