Juraj Hrženjak

Juraj Hrženjak (born March 10, 1917 in Bjelovar ; † June 15, 2020 in Zagreb ) was a Yugoslav or Croatian politician , judge , publicist and association official.

Life

Juraj Hrženjak first worked at a bank, then from 1940 to 1941 in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Croatian Banschaft . During World War II he joined the partisans .

From 1945 to 1947 he was Deputy Commander of the Military Administration of the Yugoslav People's Army for Istria and the Slovene Coast , then from 1947 to 1951 Deputy Minister for the newly liberated areas and from 1955 to 1958 Director of the Institute for Social Self-Government . From 1953 to 1958 he was a member of the Yugoslav Parliament. He graduated from the University of Zagreb in law in 1956 .

From 1967 to 1975 he was a judge at the Constitutional Court of SR Croatia . From 1975 to 1978 he was director of the Political School Josip Broz Tito in Kumrovec, which opened in 1974 .

Juraj Hrženjak was honorary chairman of the Antifascist League of the Republic of Croatia (Antifašistička liga Republike Hrvatske), which was founded in March 2015 on his initiative. In August 2018 he joined the Bandić Milan 365 - Stranka rada i solidarnosti party of the Mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić .
