Yuri Mikhailowitsch Radonjak ( Russian Юрий Михайлович Радоняк , also transcribed Yuri Mikhaylovich Radonyak ; born October 8, 1935 in Grozny , Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Oblast ; † March 28, 2013 ) was a Soviet welterweight boxer.

The 1.67 m tall Radonjak trained at CSKA Moscow , was Soviet runner-up in 1958 and won the 11th military world championships in Lisbon that year . In 1960 he finally won the Soviet championship and took part in the 17th Olympic Games in Rome that same year . He defeated Bruno Guse from Germany, Joseph Lartey from Ghana, Andrés Navarro from Spain and Leszek Drogosz from Poland before losing to Nino Benvenuti from Italy in the final .

In 1962 he ended his career with 197 wins in 226 fights. From 1962 to 1973 he worked as a boxing coach for CSKA Moscow and was then head coach of the national boxing team of the Soviet Union until 1976. Under his coaching, Soviet boxers won two gold and two silver medals at the 1974 World Championships, as well as ten gold and four silver medals at the 1973 and 1975 European Championships. He also managed the Soviet boxing Olympic teams at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and 1976 in Montreal . The Soviets won gold twice, silver once and bronze four times. In 1997 he was awarded the Order of Honored Master of Sport for his achievements .

Yuri Radonjak died after a long and serious illness in 2013 at the age of 77.
