Yuri Subarew ( Russian Юрий Зубарев ; born October 18, 1940 in Sverdlovsk ) is a former Soviet ski jumper .

Career

Subarew made his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament in 1960/61 . After he only achieved a poor 32nd place in the opening competition on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf , he surprised the competition on the Great Olympic Hill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with eighth place and thus also with his first top ten placement. However, Subarew was unable to build on this result in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen , but was able to secure 18th place in the overall standings with 795.1 points.

After he did not take part in the tournament in the following years despite his success, he came back to the national team for the 1964/65 Four Hills Tournament . In Oberstdorf he again achieved the weakest result of the tour, but was able to improve again in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in sixth. In Bischofshofen, Subarew achieved the best individual result of his career with fourth place. Although he had skipped the jumping in Innsbruck in the meantime, he finished fourth in the tour's overall standings.

On his third and last tour, Subarew again disappointed the worst placement in Oberstdorf. Although he was still able to achieve two top 20 placements, he did not get beyond 58th place in the overall standings.

At his last international tournament, the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1966 , he started again from the normal hill and reached 20th place with jumps on 72 and 72.5 meters.
