Jurica Vranješ [ ˈjuritsa ˈʋraɲɛʃ ] (born January 30, 1980 in Osijek ) is a former Croatian football player .
Career
society
Vranješ first played in Serbia with FK Vojvodina Novi Sad until 1997 . He then moved to NK Osijek before joining Bayer 04 Leverkusen in January 2000 . After three years he moved to VfB Stuttgart , where he finished the first season quite successfully. After a rather disappointing second season, he moved to Werder Bremen in 2005 . In the game against Eintracht Frankfurt on May 13, 2009 he wore the captain's armband after replacing Frank Baumann .
After he had played no role in the Werder Bremen squad in the first half of the 2009/10 season , he was loaned to Gençlerbirliği Ankara during the winter break until the end of the season. In the summer he returned to Bremen, but was no longer in the Bremen professional squad due to critical comments about coach Thomas Schaaf ; his shirt number 7, which he had taken over from Paul Stalteri , was given to Marko Arnautović . Vranješ trained in the following time with Werder's second team, but was not in the squad there either. His contract term ended on June 30, 2011.
On September 12, 2011 Vranješ signed a contract valid until June 30, 2012 with the Greek first division club Aris Thessaloniki . He then tied himself to the Croatian first division club HNK Rijeka for two years . In the fall of 2012 he played his last assignments there and then ended his career.

In 1999 he made his debut for the Croatian national team in a game against Egypt . He also participated in the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.
