Jurij Wolodymyrowytsch Kostezkyj ( Ukrainian Юрій Володимирович Костецький ; born February 29, 1972 ) is a former Ukrainian handball player who was mostly used on the left back .

The 1.92 m tall and 83 kg heavy right-handed player played for Poljot Chelyabinsk until March 1998. Then he moved to Hungary to Elektromos Budapest. In the summer of 1998 he joined the Portuguese club ABC Braga , with which he became champions in 1999 and 2001 and 2000 cup winners. In the 2000/01 season he was the top scorer in the EHF Champions League . From 2005 he played for Madeira Andebol SAD, with whom he became top scorer and runner-up in 2007. He later ran for Sporting Clube da Horta.

For the Ukrainian national team Jurij Kostezkyj played at least 72 international matches in which he scored 434 goals. With 60 goals he was the second best thrower at the 2001 World Cup , just one goal behind Eduard Kokscharow . With seventh place he also achieved the greatest success in the young national team's history. At the European Championships in 2002 he was the third-best scorer with 52 goals. At the 2004 European Championships he was the most successful Ukrainian with 24 goals in three games, and at the 2006 European Championships he scored 23 goals in six games. At the 2007 World Cup in Germany, he was again the team's most dangerous shooter with 37 goals.
