Jussi Hanhimäki

Jussi M. Hanhimäki (born February 3, 1965 in Espoo ) is a Finnish historian who teaches as a professor at the University Institute for International Studies and Development in Geneva . His main research interests are the history of the Cold War , US foreign policy, and transatlantic relations.

Hanhimäki studied first at the University of Tampere , where he took his bachelor's degree in 1986 , and then at the University of Boston , where he received his master's degree in 1987 and a Ph.D. in 1993. received his doctorate. In 1993/94 he was a Fellow at Harvard University , 1994/1995 Visiting Scholar at Ohio University and from 1995 to 2000 Lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science . Since 2000 he has been teaching at the University Institute for International Studies and Development in Geneva. He interrupted this activity from 2007 to 2011 and worked as a professor at the Academy of Finland . At the same time as teaching in Geneva, Hanhimäki has been Professor of Political History at Helsinki University since 2002 .

In 2002 he received the Bernath Prize of the Society for the History of American External Relations .
