The correctional facility in Flensburg ( Petuh : Rotenstein Castle ) is the second smallest correctional facility (JVA) in Schleswig-Holstein . The Flensburg JVA has 69 places in prison , of which 49 places are intended for remand detention (district: Regional Court of Flensburg ) and 20 places for criminal detention (imprisonment of up to six months in the standard execution and imprisonment of up to one year in the first execution ).

The JVA Flensburg was built in 1882 as a regional court prison and has been an independent correctional facility since 1971.

The closure of the Flensburg correctional facility has been discussed between the parties at times in recent years.
