The Justus-von-Liebig-Gymnasium is a state school in the Swabian town of Neusäß and is attended by 868 students (school year 2017/18). With a technical college and a secondary school, the school is on one of the largest school complexes in the Augsburg district .

history

The school was founded on August 1, 1965 in Augsburg and started with a few and small rooms at the Neusäß elementary school on September 7, 1965.

Construction of the school complex began in 1966, and lessons in the school's own classrooms could begin the following year. At that time, two classrooms on the upper floor, the partition wall of which had been removed, served as the gym. Only the south wing of the building was usable. The north wing was still under construction.

With the move into the new building, the day home model was implemented in the form of a state-sponsored school experiment. The parents of the pupils could choose between the normal class with the end of the lesson at 12.45 p.m. or the day care center with the end at 4.45 p.m. or 5.30 p.m. The day home students received lunch at the grammar school and, after an inclination lesson, were able to take part in electives or homework supervision, and later also extended lessons in the main subjects.

Two years later (1968) the sports hall and school building were inaugurated.

On September 13, 1973 the school building was completed in its current size.

On April 1, 1982 the school was named after the German chemist Justus von Liebig . In the following year, the model operation of the day care center was discontinued because the state subsidy was ended.

In 1985 the adjoining secondary school, the triple gymnasium and the outdoor sports facility were inaugurated.

present

The school is involved in competitions such as the stock market simulation game , youth debates , the Augsburg ski championships and youth research . She is particularly successful and well known in the latter.
